Parents, Teachers, Staff Members & Friends,

We’re joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and we urge you to join with us.  The PTA is well-known for advocating sound educational policies for our public schools.  By joining the PTA, you are showing your support for our public education system and helping the PTA shape our children’s lives on a daily basis.

There are several other compelling reasons to join the PTA, including:

Getting Connected: You will immediately be connected to parents, teachers and school administrators who openly share information and ideas on how to improve our schools.  You will also hear about new positions and directions in education before they become established policies.

Making a Difference: You will have the opportunity to work with other parents, teachers and staff members to provide input on the direction of our schools and to organize fun, exciting and educational activities targeted to your families and students.

Speaking Up: PTA’s are forums where you will be able to share your ideas about how to make our schools work even better for your children.

Being a Role Model: You will demonstrate to your children the value you place in joining your oice with others, and working together to enhance our educational policies.

Helping Your Child: Thirty years of research confirms that children excel when their parents are actively involved in their educational experiences both at home and in school -- grades are higher, test scores rise, schools improve and students’ self-esteem grows.

County Council of PTA’s (CCPTA): All Arlington PTA’s are members of the CCPTA, and we strongly encourage them to appoint representatives.  CCPTA meets monthly with the Superintendent and a School Board Member to relay concerns, share ideas, and represent the interests of all schools.
