5 Take-Aways from September 20, 2010 Meeting

Provide a brief summary of CCPTA meetings at your PTA meetings by attending your PTA meeting or via email using these take-aways as a framework.  Encourage your PTA board to utilize the email group lists (circulated separately) to reach PTA officers at other schools to share information and ask questions. The CCPTA is making extra efforts to help you find ways to communicate information back to your PTA membership.  Please let us know if you have questions or suggestions on how we can help facilitate this effort.

  1. Make your PTA aware of your School Board liaison. There are several ways that PTAs and individuals can communicate with the School Board.  Contacting your School Board liaison is one way.  Additional ways include: open office hours on Monday evenings, email, by telephone or by attending a School Board meeting.  Attached is a chart of School Board liaison assignments for each school.
  2. Make your PTA aware of the APS site-based survey results and discuss any questions or concerns with the principal of your school.  Results are available on the APS web site at http://www.arlington.k12.va.us/aps/site/default.asp.
  3. Promote Reflections in a big way! Reflections information has already been sent directly to all of your Reflections chairs, including suggested school deadlines, county deadlines, rules and entry information.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact the County Reflections co-chairs, Cecelia Espenoza at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 4. Ask your PTA membership or PTA Board to consider the 2010 School Bond endorsement. Attached is an FAQ and resolution provided by the 2010 School Bond Committee. Please feel free to contact any member of the committee with questions.  Their information is in the attached FAQ.
