This Thursday, May 13th the CCPTA will host its Annual Scholarship Awards Reception and Presentation.  22 Arlington High School Seniors will receive scholarships to pursue careers in teaching or administration.  The CCPTA, The Arlington County Scholarship Fund for Teachers, Inc., the Arlington Retired Teachers Association, and the Arlington School Administrators are some of the organizations that donated funds in support of these scholarships.  Please join us for a wonderful evening celebrating these hard working and dedicated students.  View more details of the event.

Superintendent, Pat Murphy presented the Six-Year CIP.  The 2010 Bond would fully fund reconstruction of Wakefield High School. Wakefield project slated to Begin July 2011. Copies of the proposed CIP are posted online at www.apsva.us/cip.  View full article.

In recognition of the important contributions that school nurses make and for their dedicated services to Virginia schools, parents and students, Governor McDonnell has declared May 12, 2010 as School Nurse Day.  Click HERE to read the Certificate of Recognition in full.

• Ashlawn Elementary School -- Global Odyssey on May 19th,
• Taylor Elementary School -- Scratch Day on May 22nd,
• Tuckahoe Elementary School --  Annual Home and Garden Tour on May 22nd, and
• Williamsburg Middle School -- Parent Networking Night on "Transition to 9th Grade."
